Christian Science (which actually goes by the name Church of Christ subtitled Scientist) is referred to in the public arena as the Christian Science Church, was founded by prophetess Mary Baker Eddy.
They believe in Faith Healing since they teach that illness is an illusion of the material world. Although they discourage medical treatment it is not totally forbidden. They teach that reality is purely spiritual.
The reason they are not lumped in the New Thought category of Christians is because Eddy insisted they not be due to the fact that she believed her teachings to be the final revelation to the world of Jesus Christ. In other words she claimed her views were not merely metaphysical.
She claimed her book Science and Health is inspired text along with the Bible.
They are Binitarian and refer to God as He or She.
Eddy taught that after death the soul still continues to work on it's salvation and that one cannot communicate with the dead.
They call their headquarters the Mother Church.
They believe Jesus was a man and Christ is a Divine idea.
They go over the same 26 lessons for their Sunday School study but each year is updated with different Bible texts or paragraphs from Eddy's writings. One of the 26 lessons is on aliens.
Some Christian Scientists claim Eddy was the woman of Revelation 12.
